May 19, 2012 - K, I'm not too big on opera, but... that was just beautiful. Sucks that Pav passed away a few years ago.

May 19, 2012 - Such is the talent of Pavarotti that he can make something which most of us don't understand so completely beautiful.

May 19, 2012 - when Pavarottis sing this diamond, the voice comes form his soul without any effort,, so natural as breath...the other singers that sang the diamond must put energizer batteries in the voice to reach this range

May 20, 2012 - English translation>>> Nobody shall sleep!... Nobody shall sleep! Even you, o Princess, in your cold room, watch the stars, that tremble with love and with hope. But my secret is hidden within me, my name no one shall know... No!...No!... On your mouth I will tell it when the light shines. And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!... (No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.) Vanish, o night! Set, stars! Set, stars! At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win!

May 21, 2012 - its actually opera coming from the italian plural opere, and is where a singer or muscian projects the voice dramatically... and thankyou for filming this... with a potato
jewelmarkess Comenta:
May 21, 2012 - Actually, Italian words "opera" is more generic than this word in other languages. In Italian "opera" means "a work" as in work of art. When Italians refer to what we know as opera, they use words "opera lirica". Also, if you check any English dictionary, you'll find that an opera as an extended work of drama/comedy set to music with music dominates, like a musical, but with more complex music and performed without mics. This is an aria from opera Turandot, not opera by itself.
jewelmarkess Comenta:
May 21, 2012 - Pavarotti is fantastic, but think about this. Those of us who love opera and are old enough to be around when he was performing got to hear him live, in operas, without microphones like here - we got to hear his real voice without any kind of electronic distortion while he was still in his prime. Those who don't care for opera, even of the same age didn't get to hear him until he was near retirement, and then only in concerts in the arenas. Just something to consider...

May 21, 2012 - Or really??? How about your culture? Do you know who Jessye Norman is? Leontyne Price?
jewelmarkess Comenta:
May 21, 2012 - What about your culture? Do you know that some of the world's greatest opera singers were black? Ever heard of Jessye Norman, Leontyne Price, Shirley Verrett, Simon Estes, Leona Mitchell, Kathlin Battle, Lawrence Brownlee to name but a few. Oh wait, aren't you someone who left a nasty comment on Jessye Norman video, who unlike you is one of the world's greatest opera singers. Oh wait, Pavarotti is the only opera singer you know because with all your talk about culture you've never been to opera.
babystinky Comenta:
May 21, 2012 - that is a terrible thing to say. there have been tremendous talents who were black, in so many different types of music. this is a celebration of the "Human Spirit" and the music that comes from it. we are from one blood and one spirit.
