Aug 16, 2007 - Hey JETS4 - you can use 4mil however you might have trouble with it curving over the top of the spar and keeping the bottom flat at the same time. You could add some light scores to the inside of the wing top to help it flex.

Jul 10, 2008 - Iam currently building a dogfighter spad. i would like it to be electric. I dont have a whole lot of experience flying yet, but i have been flying some foamy elevon/delta mixing type jets and a brushless cub with ailerons. what could i expect from an electric dogfighter? " if you know" Would it be pretty quick as well?. And i cant find that canadian downspout any suggestions?. ty 8) great vid

Aug 5, 2008 - just completed my dogfighter it was at 4lbs. was using 4mil/2mil wing , american downspout with an evo .36 Not sure but i think im still heavier than you with gas. and your using 6mil. i dont get it i dont think the downspout could make that much of difference , and i think my engine is only 3oz more if im not mistaken. i put an 8oz tank in though. what do you weigh with gas?

Aug 5, 2008 - Figure 1oz volume of fuel weighs roughly 1oz(based on water volume vs weight) so figure 3lbs 11oz wet(with fuel). My downspout was heavy(11oz) and I shaved 8 oz(if I recall correctly) going with a coroplast fuselage. Look to shave some weight there. The Canadian downspout is much lighter than the American downspout but the coroplast fuselage is even lighter. Good luck!

Aug 25, 2008 - how did you moujnt your servos in a coroplast fuse.? seems like zip ties would tear thru easy and foam mounting tape may not stick?

Feb 8, 2009 - I used both foam mounting tape and a zip tie for each servo mount.  Clean the coro surface with acetone before applying the double-sided foam tape. Used this mounting method on a few SPADs. Works fine.

Jan 5, 2012 - great video, just finished building mine few days ago changed the plan slightly used correx to make fuselarge keep weight down mainly as putting a SC25 in her, this is my ever first plane build so hopefully it will fly (fingers crossed) just need some nice weather now.
